Concept:
Young children are curious about their natural world; constantly questioning and exploring. Children may have come across caterpillars and butterflies, but may not see the connection between the two. In this theme, your child will learn where butterflies come from. They will learn about the life cycle of a butterfly and begin making connections to the greater idea that all living things have a life cycle.
Butterflies go through four stages of life, but they only look like butterflies in the final stage.
You can support your child’s learning in this theme by taking your child on a nature walk. Stop and look under leaves and in the braches. See if you can find eggs, a caterpillar, a pupa or a butterfly.
