Concept:
This theme will introduce the children to a variety of community helpers in our neighbourhood.
A community helper is anyone in the community who helps others by providing a service of some kind. Our class will explore many different roles of community helpers which include a chef, gardener, postal worker, fire fighter and a traffic policeman. Children will role play these different occupations and think about how these different workers help one another.
You can support our classroom learning on this topic, by talking about your professional responsibilities. Bringing a tool from your profession or wearing your work uniform will help children identify more closely with the kind of service you provide.
